SAODN February 2018 News

We are excited for the year ahead and this is our first call in 2018 for volunteers to contribute to the continued growth of the OD profession in South Africa and Africa.

Please consider volunteering for any of the following roles:
* Learning Directors in Gauteng (Jhb or Pretoria)and Cape Town.
* Two conveners for each of the above regions
* Flourish Conference Convenor (Annual SAODN Conference)

The Learning Director and Convenor roles are designed around the principle of micro-volunteering, so it asks a bit of time every month, rather than lots of time. The Flourish Conference Convenor role requires more time over a shorter time-period around Q3 of 2018.

There is a 50% off your annual membership discount applicable for all volunteers.

To volunteer, or re-commit as a volunteer, please email by 9 February 2018 to let us know what roles you want to add value to. We look forward to your contribution to our profession.

Let us know if you would like your company to host any of the OD Corners for 2018. The OD Corners typically run for 3-4hrs (morning or afternoon).

Huge Thank You to Juta for hosting us in Cape Town for 2016 and 2017!
WorldsView Academy continues to provide us with a home in Jhb and we are deeply grateful for that.

We continue to arrange significant discounts for our members at learning events hosted by our partners and encourage the broader OD Community to support these events.

Be on the lookout for an upcoming trip by Meg Wheatley and see notice about the session by Dr Glenda Eoyang on 19-20 and 22-23 March in Pretoria and 26-28 March in Cape Town. (see below)

This year IODA hosts their annual conference in Turkey and all members qualify for scholarships. We will keep you posted as news develop about this conference.

You can also sign up to get information directly from the Turkish organising committee by visiting their website.
Meg Wheatley

We are very excited about Meg Wheatley coming to South Africa this June. I know many of us in the Organisation Development community have been supporters and fans of her work since her book Leadership and the New Science 25 years ago. Her latest work focuses on facing reality, claiming leadership through the warrior archetype and restoring sanity to our worlds.

Meg will be hosting:

A practitioner retreat from 14-17 June at Bodhi Khaya close to Hermanus in the Western Cape
A one-day master class in Johannesburg earlier in June (Date to be confirmed)
She is available for in-house one-day Master Classes at your organisation during the first half of June.

Please email to register your interest in any of the three above options. More details to follow in the next two weeks.
Dr Glenda Eoyang

We are also excited to announce a special 20% discount for fully paid-up SAODN members for the workshops being hosted by Dr Glenda Eoyang in March in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Dr. Glenda Eoyang works with public and private organizations to help them thrive in the face of overwhelming complexity and uncertainty. She is a pioneer in the field of human systems dynamics (HSD), which she founded. Glenda uses her Models and Methods to help others see patterns in the chaos that surrounds them, understand the patterns in simple and powerful ways, and take practical steps to shift chaos into order. She is the co-author of the book Adaptive Action: Leveraging Uncertainty in Your Organization (Stanford University Press, April 2013).
